Breaking: SZA Philly CTRL Tour Postponed

Top Dawg Entertainment/RCA Records rising star, and epidemie of black girl magic, SZA, dropped her debut full-length album, Ctrl, almost 6 months ago. After debuting at #2 on the Billboard 200 SZA announced the headlining of her first tour.

Since then, fans have been clamoring for a chance to get their edges snatched and see the R&B singer-songwriter live and in person.

After a long anticipated wait for SZA and special guests Smino and Ravyn Lenae, the CTRL North American Tour has ended and the rescheduled dates from the original tour are all that’s left. However, SZA took to Instagram a day after this article was posted to clarify that the last four stops on the tour will be put together as a “mini re tour package”.

This comes after the tour was scheduled to kick off in mid-August in Richmond, Virginia and run straight through early October, capping off in Charlotte, North Carolina. A second leg then would have picked up on December 8th in Norfolk, Virginia, concluding just a few shows later in St. Louis, Missouri. Her first postponement set the tour to restart August 20th due to unforeseen medical reason that left her in the hospital on August 16th.

According to Carpe Diem -Baltimore, “Due to a scheduling conflict, the SZA show [at Rams Head Live], scheduled for 12/9 is postponed. Please hold onto your tickets, and stay tuned for more information on the rescheduled date.”

On Friday evening (day of the show) the Fillmore Philadelphia came forward and confirmed that the tour will begin anew starting off with Philly on January 31st but noted that the postponement was due to “scheduling conflict”.

As we wait to witness SZA’s vibes first hand, we can only ask ourselves why the universe is playing with our lives after we fell in love with the late flurry of percussion and doleful guitar that were the only accompaniment for the album opener “Supermodel” to the wrestling of insecurities that held some universal truths in “Drew Barrymore”.

Hoping that all is well as SZA’s stan base stands strong and waits for her timely return to the stage.
